About Green Tree Pythons:

The Green Tree Python is a stunning non-venomous snake found in the rainforests of New Guinea, Indonesia, and northern Australia. These beautiful snakes are famous for their brilliant emerald green coloring with white or yellow markings along their backs. Adult green tree pythons typically grow 4-6 feet long. They're perfectly adapted for life in the trees (arboreal), with a prehensile tail that grips branches and a slender body for navigating through foliage. Green tree pythons have a unique resting posture—they drape themselves over branches in symmetrical coils with their head in the middle. Interestingly, baby green tree pythons are born bright yellow, red, or orange and don't turn green until they're 6-12 months old! These pythons are ambush predators that hunt birds, small mammals, and lizards. They have heat-sensing pits along their lips that detect warm-blooded prey in darkness. Green tree pythons are constrictors, wrapping around prey and squeezing until it suffocates. They're popular in the pet trade due to their stunning appearance!
