Copper & Kings American Brandy is a pot-distilled grape brandy from Louisville, Kentucky — aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels and new American oak, non-chill filtered, with no added sugar, boisé, or caramel color.

Copper & Kings, founded in 2014 in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood, makes pure pot-still American brandy influenced by American whiskey. This grape brandy is distilled in small batches from aromatic, high-acid wine — primarily Muscat of Alexandria, Chenin Blanc, and Colombard — then matured in Kentucky bourbon barrels with support from medium-char new American oak for balance and a polished, velvety finish. Older aged stock is blended back into younger spirit in a variation of the solera system to maintain a consistent house style. Because it is non-chill filtered, a slight cloudiness may appear at cold temperatures.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Aromatic white-grape fruit with vanilla and oak
  • Palate: Smooth and rounded — ripe grape, caramel, and a feisty new-oak character
  • Finish: Polished and velvety with lingering oak

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What grapes is it made from? Primarily Muscat of Alexandria, Chenin Blanc, and Colombard — aromatic, high-acid varietals selected for character.
  • Why might it look slightly cloudy when cold? Because it is non-chill filtered and free of additives, a natural haze can appear at colder temperatures.
  • How does it differ from the apple brandy? This is a grape-based brandy with ripe-grape and caramel character; the apple brandy is distilled from apple wine for a crisp, orchard-fruit profile.
